Operations Managers sue United Rentals, Inc.

United Rentals, Inc., the self proclaimed largest equipment rental company in the world, has been sued in federal court for overtime violations by one of its former Operations Managers.  Andreas Aros, a former Operations Manager at one of URIs Connecticut locations, claims that he is entitled to overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act because, contrary to his title, he was not a manager but instead his primary duty was inside sales.  Inside sales is a non-exempt duty according to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Aros has fashioned his complaint as a collective action and so he will seek to invite all other Operations Managers around the country into this case.

URI has filed an Answer to the Complaint and claims that all Operations Managers, including Mr. Aros, were properly classified as exempt.
